Chloe Cook and La'Torria Lemon on Love, Legacy, and Leveling Up in Season 2 of OWN's 'Heart & Hustle: Houston'
Chloe Cook and La'Torria Lemon on tears, fractures, and why Season 2 hits different.
When Heart & Hustle: Houston debuted its first season, it introduced viewers to a circle of ambitious Black women navigating friendship, business, motherhood and life in one of the country’s most image-conscious cities.
Season 2, according to two of its stars, is a different kind of show entirely.
In a recent interview with The Reality Rundown, cast members Chloe Cook and La’Torria Lemon spoke about the emotional weight of the new season, deepening fractures within the group and what it has been like watching their friendships change in real time.
“This season is definitely heavier,” Cook said.
Lemon agreed. “I’ve cried more this past year than I have in my entire life,” she said.
Much of the tension stems from unresolved fallout following Season 1, particularly a vineyard therapy session that was meant to bring healing to the group but instead exposed cracks that never fully closed.
“There was weird energy after filming,” the women said, noting that the group dynamic had already shifted off-camera before Season 2 began production.
This season finds the cast at vastly different stages of life — divorce, grief, career pivots and emotional reinvention among them. That divergence, Cook and Lemon said, has become impossible to ignore on screen.
Lemon, who described herself as a natural fixer, said the season forced her to confront her own limits. Navigating personal grief, health concerns and the fallout from a failed business investment, she said the emotional labor of holding the group together took a toll.
“As a publicist and a fixer, I naturally want to help people work through things,” she said. “But it can definitely become emotionally exhausting.”
She is nonetheless pressing forward. Lemon said she is preparing to launch a home fragrance line called “Lemon Drop” in celebration of her upcoming birthday.
Cook’s storyline this season centers on love and self-rediscovery. Her relationship with a man named Jordan has drawn attention from viewers due to an age gap, revelations about his past and outside opinions weighing on the couple.
Cook said the chapter is ultimately about growth.
“I’m in my soft life era,” she said, citing a renewed focus on peace and intentionality — as well as a return to her passion for event planning.
She also revealed she is developing The Rose Garden, a nonprofit initiative for young girls that she said has been on her heart for nearly 20 years.
Despite the tensions running through Season 2, both women said they still miss the sisterhood dynamic of the show’s first season.
Heart & Hustle: Houston Season 2 premieres on OWN on Saturday, May 30th at 9/8c.
