Season 12 of Love & Marriage: Huntsville continues to prove that making peace is much easier than keeping it.
Episode 5, “Martell’s Destiny?,” which aired Saturday, October 10, on OWN, picks up with the cast attempting to move forward after several uncomfortable conversations. But the agreements to leave the past behind are already beginning to unravel.
Martell Holt and Marsau Scott find themselves revisiting allegations about one another’s personal lives, Arionne Curry’s distrust of Destiny Payton threatens a longtime friendship and potential business partnership, and LaTisha Scott’s attempt to bring the women together ends with threats of legal action.
Meanwhile, Destiny opens up about a much more personal struggle as her father’s cancer progresses.
Here’s everything that happened.
Arionne Isn’t Forgetting How the Women Treated Her
The episode picks up directly where Episode 4 ended, with Arionne continuing her conversation with Nell Fletcher and Martell about her complicated history with the women of Huntsville.
Arionne expresses frustration over what she believes has been years of the women researching her personal life, discussing her relationships and forming opinions about her without giving her an opportunity to defend herself.
Now, Arionne says she’s prepared to do some investigating of her own.
Nell, meanwhile, offers her perspective on Arionne’s recent conversation with Kimmi and Tisha. She suggests the women were much less confrontational in person than their previous comments about Arionne might have indicated, saying they had “tucked their tail” when it came time to address her directly.
But Nell also challenges Arionne about her unwillingness to reconcile with Destiny.
If Arionne is prepared to move forward with Kimmi and Tisha after years of tension, Nell questions why Destiny shouldn’t receive the same opportunity.
Nell even uses her own relationship with Arionne as an example, explaining that she is choosing to give Arionne a chance despite their history.
Arionne, however, maintains that her issues with Destiny are different.
And as the episode progresses, it becomes clear just how strongly she feels about keeping Destiny out of her life.
Kimmi and Maurice Discuss Rebuilding Trust
Elsewhere, Kimmi and Maurice Scott enjoy a pottery-making date, giving the couple an opportunity to catch up on the recent developments within their friend group.
Kimmi tells Maurice about her conversation with Arionne and Tisha, admitting that the meeting went better than she anticipated.
Considering their complicated history, the fact that everyone managed to remain relatively peaceful was progress.
But Kimmi isn’t ready to pretend everything has been resolved.
She explains that while Tisha appears more willing to move forward with Arionne, she still has reservations about rebuilding their relationship.
Kimmi hasn’t forgotten the hurtful things Arionne has said about the women over the years, and one cordial conversation isn’t enough to erase that history.
For Kimmi, rebuilding trust will require baby steps.
She also believes the women need to separate their personal disagreements from the ongoing issues between their husbands.
Maurice is encouraged by the progress and expresses pride in the women’s willingness to at least attempt reconciliation.
He also reveals that Chris Fletcher invited the men to get together, and he plans to attend.
Maurice jokes that the men seem to be getting along better than the women.
Kimmi also mentions Tisha’s upcoming Midnight Mommy Business Brunch, which will bring several women with unresolved issues into the same room.
Despite her reservations, she hopes the gathering will be another opportunity to move forward.
Unfortunately, the men are about to demonstrate that they haven’t exactly mastered reconciliation either.
The Men Hit the Golf Course, but Old Allegations Return
Martell, Marsau, Maurice and Chris meet for a golf outing following their recent group dinner.
Initially, the atmosphere is surprisingly positive.
The men reflect on how peacefully their previous gathering went, joking that the only significant tension involved the ongoing White Hall development project.
The conversation turns to business, with Martell discussing his professional progress, including obtaining his builder’s license and real estate license.
Chris describes the competitive dynamic between Martell and Marsau as potentially healthy, arguing that surrounding yourself with successful people can motivate everyone to improve.
He even jokes that Martell’s accomplishments might encourage Marsau to complete his project faster so he can begin making money.
But the friendly atmosphere doesn’t last.
When the conversation shifts to Arionne’s recent meeting with the women, Martell brings up his frustration with Tisha.
Martell reminds Marsau that the two men previously agreed to stop speaking negatively about each other and their families.
Yet Martell believes Tisha violated that understanding by publicly repeating an allegation about his sexuality.
Martell denies the allegation and argues that Tisha presented unverified information as though it were factual.
He emphasizes that his issue isn’t with homosexuality but with what he considers a false statement about his identity.
According to Martell, he believed the agreement with Marsau meant both sides would stop making damaging public statements.
Instead, he feels the Scotts have continued discussing him.
Martell Claims He Has Information About Marsau
Martell reveals that Tisha’s statements motivated him to investigate allegations involving Marsau and another woman.
He claims to have interviewed a woman who made allegations about Marsau and suggests he has evidence supporting her account.
However, the allegations are disputed, and the conversation does not independently establish their truth.
Marsau challenges Martell’s claims and questions the credibility of the information.
Martell argues that his situation is different because he believes he has evidence, while Tisha was repeating something she heard decades earlier.
The discussion becomes increasingly heated as the men debate what constitutes proof and whether either side has actually honored their agreement.
Maurice, who attended college and played football with Martell, also weighs in.
He says he never personally witnessed anything during their college years that would support the allegation about Martell’s sexuality.
Martell reiterates that he has no problem with someone being gay but takes issue with people making what he believes are false claims about him.
By the end of the exchange, it’s apparent that the peace between Martell and Marsau remains fragile.
Both men say they want to move forward, but neither seems prepared to stop defending himself against allegations from the other side.
Martell’s Business Plans With Destiny Are in Jeopardy
The conversation eventually shifts to Martell’s friendship with Destiny and their plans to work together in real estate.
Martell reveals that he and Destiny had been discussing a business partnership that could have extended well beyond occasionally working on property transactions.
Destiny was preparing to become a licensed real estate broker, and Martell intended to place his real estate license under her brokerage.
They had even discussed jointly owning a company.
But those plans are now uncertain because Arionne doesn’t want Martell working with Destiny.
The men are surprised by the situation, particularly because Martell and Destiny have been friends for nearly 30 years.
Martell explains that Arionne has not forgotten comments Destiny previously made about her. He also says Arionne is upset about how Destiny treated him in the past.
The issue isn’t that Arionne objects to Martell pursuing real estate. She specifically objects to him working with Destiny.
Martell acknowledges that Destiny doesn’t fully understand how serious Arionne’s objections have become.
In fact, according to Martell, Destiny still believes they will be doing significant business together.
The men suggest that Arionne and Destiny should sit down and address their issues directly rather than allowing their conflict to interfere with Martell’s professional opportunities.
Martell agrees that a conversation would be beneficial, but admits he’s caught in the middle.
He is now reconsidering the partnership despite the history and plans he shares with Destiny.
One question hangs over the conversation: Will Martell maintain his longtime friendship with Destiny if Arionne doesn’t approve?
Arionne Makes Her Position on Destiny Clear
The episode then moves between two separate conversations: Martell and Arionne speaking at home, and Tisha and Marsau discussing the situation at Black.
Martell updates Arionne about the golf outing, explaining that the men initially enjoyed some friendly competition before the allegations about his sexuality resurfaced.
Arionne agrees with Martell’s frustration, questioning why the Scotts can publicly discuss his personal life but become upset when allegations about Marsau are raised.
She also tells Martell that Tisha invited her to an upcoming gathering with the women.
Martell expresses concern that the invitation could turn into another opportunity for the women to question Arionne about her past.
Arionne makes it clear that if the women have questions for her, she intends to ask questions in return.
But the conversation takes a different turn when Destiny’s name comes up.
Arionne explains that Tisha previously indicated she wasn’t particularly close with Destiny anymore, making her surprised that Tisha would invite Destiny to the gathering.
Arionne questions why Tisha would invite someone she supposedly has issues with, especially when she already knows Arionne and Destiny aren’t on good terms.
Meanwhile, at Black, Tisha and Marsau are discussing Martell and Destiny’s relationship from a very different perspective.
Tisha questions whether their longtime friendship is strictly platonic.
Marsau claims Martell had romantic interest in Destiny when they were younger and allegedly tried to pursue her in high school.
The Scotts speculate about whether there could be more to the friendship, but their suspicions are not established as fact.
Back at home, Martell tells Arionne that the men questioned whether he would maintain his friendship with Destiny given Arionne’s feelings.
Arionne immediately takes issue with how the question was framed.
She interprets it as though the men are treating her and Destiny as two women Martell must choose between romantically.
Arionne reminds Martell that they share a child and that his relationship with Destiny shouldn’t be treated as equivalent to theirs.
Martell explains that the men weren’t suggesting a romantic competition. They were asking whether he would maintain a friendship with someone who had allegedly mistreated his partner.
But Arionne remains firm.
She doesn’t want Martell maintaining a relationship with Destiny, and she goes as far as saying she doesn’t want him around Destiny unless she’s present.
Arionne calls Destiny a snake and makes it clear she doesn’t trust her intentions.
When Martell suggests the women sit down to resolve their differences, Arionne rejects the idea.
For now, there appears to be little room for compromise.
Destiny Opens Up About Her Father and Martell
While Martell and Arionne are debating Destiny’s place in their lives, Destiny is dealing with struggles of her own.
In an emotional scene with her father, Destiny discusses the growing distance between herself and Martell.
She believes Martell has started treating her differently since bringing Arionne around, and she worries that their nearly 30-year friendship could be damaged because of Arionne’s feelings toward her.
For Destiny, the situation is particularly painful because she and Martell have known each other for decades.
She hopes their friendship will survive the current tension.
But the conversation soon turns to something far more serious.
Destiny reveals that her father’s cancer has progressed and that his medication is no longer working.
With treatment options becoming increasingly limited, the family is now focused on making his remaining time as peaceful, comfortable and fulfilling as possible.
It’s a heartbreaking moment that provides a different perspective on what Destiny is navigating.
While her friendships and potential business opportunities remain uncertain, she is also confronting the reality of her father’s declining health.
Tisha’s Midnight Mommy Business Brunch Gets Messy
LaTisha’s Midnight Mommy Business Brunch was supposed to be a gathering focused on entrepreneurship, motherhood and building a community.
As an extension of her Mommy Business podcast, Tisha hopes to develop the concept into a larger lifestyle and business brand.
Kimmi arrives impressed with the decorations and setup, while Tisha provides food and gifts for her guests.
Nell joins them, and the conversation quickly shifts to the guest list.
Tisha reveals that she invited both Arionne and Destiny, despite knowing the women have unresolved issues.
Destiny hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll attend.
Kimmi jokes that she would have brought popcorn if she’d known both women might end up in the same room.
The women also discuss their previous meeting with Arionne, which went much better than expected.
But the conversation soon turns to Tisha’s earlier statements about Martell’s sexuality.
Tisha acknowledges repeating a rumor she says she heard approximately 25 or 26 years ago while in college.
She maintains that she was discussing something she heard at the time, not claiming firsthand knowledge.
Although Tisha acknowledges that hearing something doesn’t make it true, she refuses to retract her account of the rumor.
And when Arionne arrives, the issue is far from settled.
Arionne Confronts Tisha and Threatens Legal Action
Arionne enters the brunch upset because she believes Tisha violated their previous agreement to let the men handle their own disputes.
Arionne argues that the women have spent years discussing her and Martell without giving them an opportunity to defend themselves.
Now, she wants Tisha to answer for her statements.
Tisha disputes the timeline, explaining that her comments about the college rumor were made before the women agreed to move forward.
Kimmi supports Tisha’s explanation.
But Arionne remains focused on the substance of the allegation.
She repeatedly asks what evidence Tisha has to support her statements about Martell’s sexuality.
Tisha maintains that she was repeating information she heard decades earlier, rather than claiming personal knowledge.
Arionne presses her to acknowledge that the allegation could simply be a rumor.
Tisha concedes that possibility but refuses to deny what she heard.
As the conversation escalates, Tisha questions whether the calm version of Arionne they met previously was merely her “representative.”
Arionne responds by bringing up rumors involving Marsau, claiming she has spoken with women who possess information about him.
Those allegations are not substantiated during the scene.
Tisha challenges Arionne to provide specific details, including who was involved and when the alleged events occurred.
Tisha also explains that she initially repeated the allegation about Martell because she believed he had disrespected her.
The women begin accusing each other of dishonesty, with Tisha insisting she stands by what she said.
She declares that she will double down rather than retract her previous statements.
Arionne responds with a warning:
“We’ll see you in court.”
Tisha Says Arionne Is Fighting Martell’s Battles
The argument continues after Arionne’s threat of legal action.
Tisha suggests that Martell is behind the renewed conflict and accuses Arionne of repeating information from him.
She questions whether Arionne is keeping her word after previously agreeing that the women should stay out of the men’s disagreements.
Arionne reveals that she has already spoken with a lawyer about the statements involving Martell.
Tisha expresses frustration that the women are still arguing over an allegation she says originated more than two decades ago.
Arionne counters that the age of the allegation doesn’t eliminate the need for accountability.
She emphasizes that she and Martell share a son, making public statements about his father particularly serious to her.
Tisha responds that she also has children and that accusations involving Marsau and their marriage can affect her family.
Kimmi tries to intervene, reminding the women that they have all made hurtful statements about one another over the years.
She also points out that once something is said publicly and begins circulating online, it cannot simply be taken back.
Kimmi encourages the women to consider how information can change as it passes between people, with details added, removed or misinterpreted.
She questions whether everyone truly wants to move forward or intends to keep revisiting the past.
Arionne insists she entered their previous meeting respectfully and has acknowledged her own behavior.
But she believes Tisha is refusing to take accountability for statements Arionne says were presented as factual.
Tisha maintains that this second interaction has been much less pleasant than their first meeting.
Eventually, Tisha suggests that the women may need another conversation with their men present, since the disputes between Martell and Marsau continue affecting everyone.
But before they can settle anything, Destiny arrives.
Destiny’s Arrival Sends Arionne Packing
Destiny walks into the brunch, interrupting the tense atmosphere.
Tisha greets her warmly with a hug.
And Arionne immediately notices.
According to Arionne, Tisha previously suggested she wasn’t dealing with Destiny, making their friendly interaction appear contradictory.
In her confessional, Arionne questions the women’s authenticity, accusing them of speaking negatively about one another behind their backs while behaving differently in person.
She calls the women fake.
Destiny’s arrival is especially uncomfortable given Arionne’s ongoing objections to her relationship with Martell.
Arionne has already told Martell she doesn’t trust Destiny and doesn’t want him maintaining their friendship or proposed real estate partnership.
Rather than confronting Destiny, however, Arionne decides she’s had enough.
She announces that her time at the brunch is over and tells the women to enjoy the rest of their evening.
Then she leaves.
Despite Nell and Martell previously encouraging the two women to have a conversation, Arionne and Destiny never address their differences.
The episode ends with their relationship just as fractured as before.
The Reality Rundown’s Take: Everyone Wants Peace Until Accountability Comes Up
Episode 5 highlights the biggest obstacle standing in the way of reconciliation within the Huntsville group: everyone seems to have a different definition of what moving forward actually means.
Martell and Marsau agreed to stop discussing one another’s personal lives, yet their golf outing quickly became another argument over allegations involving both men.
Kimmi and Tisha appeared to make progress with Arionne, only for the next gathering to turn into a confrontation about statements made before their agreement.
And Martell’s nearly 30-year friendship with Destiny is now in jeopardy because Arionne has no interest in reconciling with her.
The most significant disagreement remains between Arionne and Tisha.
Arionne believes Tisha should take accountability for publicly repeating an unsubstantiated allegation about Martell’s sexuality. Tisha maintains that she was repeating something she heard decades earlier and refuses to retract that account.
Neither position has brought the women closer to resolving their issues.
Kimmi’s argument that the group cannot keep revisiting every past allegation raises a legitimate question about whether reconciliation is possible when everyone continues keeping score.
At the same time, moving forward doesn’t necessarily mean that hurtful statements no longer deserve to be addressed.
Destiny’s situation adds another layer to the episode. Her emotional conversation about her father’s declining health serves as a reminder that the cast members are navigating serious personal challenges beyond the group’s ongoing drama.
But by the time Destiny arrives at Tisha’s brunch, the opportunity for another reconciliation has already disappeared.
The question now is whether Martell and Marsau can keep their personal disagreements from destroying the progress everyone else is trying to make — and whether Arionne’s refusal to reconcile with Destiny will permanently change Martell’s longtime friendship and business plans.
For a group that keeps talking about turning over a new leaf, the past continues to have a remarkable amount of control over the present.
